MacArthur

Kung ikaw ang tipo ng tao na madiriin, maselan at punong-puno ng kaartehan at kaplastikan sa sarili mo, wag mo tong basahin.

Nabasa ko na ang ika-anim na libro ni Bob Ong. "MacArthur" ang title. Sa una, iisipin mo na siguro tungkol ito sa history ng Pinas. O kaya naman eh tungkol mismo kay Douglas MacArthur. O basta tungkol sa kahit na ano sa nakaraan ng mga Pinoy. Mali ka kung yun ang iniisip mo.

Isa syang kwento tungkol sa magkakaibigan na snatcher, magnanakaw at mga drug addict na nagdecide magbagong-buhay sa pamamagitan ng pagnenegosyo. Nagbenta sila ng pirated DVDs at ang pangalan ng tindahan nila ay "The Beautiful Movies". Mga peligro na pinagdadaanan nila at kung bakit nila nagagawang magnakaw. Ibig sabihin, lahat ng bagay sa mundo, masama man o hindi, may dahilan kung bakit mo nagagawa. Hindi mo gusto, pero kailangan mong gawin. Makikita mo ang sobrang pagkakaiba ng mayaman sa mahirap. Na pwede mo palang lunukin ang mga alahas na ninakaw mo at mga pakete ng shabu na nasa bulsa mo pag na-corner ka na ng pulis. I've been fascinated with rainbows as a kid. I've read stories about it and still wonder why we can't see it's beginning and end. This song is one of my favorites and it came to symbolize a lot of things for me. Hope. Promises. Faith.

Ang Doraemon ay isang Japanese Manga Series na ginawa ni Fujiko Fujio. Tungkol ito sa isang robot na pusa na nagtravel back in time mula sa 22nd century para tulungan si Nobita Nobi. Nagstart pa daw ang Doraemon nung 1969 pa at hanggang ngayon kung saan-saan mo daw sya makikita sa Japan and pati na rin dito sa Pinas.

Alam mo bang nung 2002, isa si Doraemon sa 22 Asian Heroes according to Time Magazine? Sya lang ang bukod tanging cartoon character sa list na yun at ang label sa kanya: "The Cuddliest Hero in Asia". Akalain mo yun. Natatawa ako pag napapanuod ko sya dati pero may lesson din naman every episode. Kaya nyang mag-produce ng kung anu-anong futuristic gadgets na tinatawag nilang Dogu. Lumalabas yung mga gadget sa 4th dimensional pocket ni Doraemon. Bakit 4th- dimensional? Kasi connected sya sa 4th dimension. (hahaha..) At akalain nyo na ang time machine kung san nanggaling si Doraemon eh yung desk drawer mismo ni Nobita. At hindi ito alam ng nanay nya. (Shhhh...).

May tenga pala sya dati kaso kinain ng isang robotic mouse. Kaya meron syang fear of mice kahit isa syang pusa. Color yellow daw sya dati, pero dahil nga kinain ng daga yung tenga nya, na-depress sya at uminom ng sadness potion. Dahil dun nag-iba color nya pati boses nya.

Minsan nagkaka-elesi sa ulo si Doraemon. Yun yung take-copter. Madami din syang Dogu, libo-libo na ata. Eto ang ilan sa mga Dogu na paborito ko:

Time Camera - camera na nagte-take ng picture from the past depende sa time na gusto mong balikan. Ginamit yun dati ni Nobita para makita yung nawawalang wallet ng tatay nya.

Sticker of Truth - pag dinikit mo sya sa tao, magsasabi sya ng totoo.

Duplicating Mirror - madodoble lahat ng things na itatapat mo dito. Magiging totoo yung reflection, kunin mo lang sa loob nung salamin hehehe... Kung magkakaron ako nyan, pera ang itatapat ko. =)

Confessor's Crickets - small robotic crickets ito, ilalagay mo lang sa nostrils nung tao para i-confess nya lahat. So pano mo maaalis yung cricket? Kailangan mong bumahing ng malakas at paamuyin ka ng paminta para magawa mo to.

Choto Ma-timer - isa syang time-stopping pocket watch.

Chocolate Heart - heart-shaped chocolate sya na pag kinain, mag-aagree ang tao na yun sa kung anumang gusto mo.

Almighty Pass - passport na magagamit mo kahit saan na hindi kailangan magbayad or hihingan ka pa ng identification.

Air Glue - magagamit mo para magdikit ng mga gamit sa ere.

Moshimo Box - isa syang telephone booth. Dial ka lang dun tapos magsabi ka ng kahit anong "what-if scenario" na pwedeng ikapagpabago ng mundo. Dati, nag-wish si Nobita ng mundo na hindi na kailangan ng pera, na pag may binili ka eh ikaw pa ang bibigyan ng pera or pag hinoldap ka eh pepwersahin ka pa na tumanggap ng pera. Pwede mo naman ibalik sa dati, tawag ka lang ulit sa Moshimo Box at mag-request ka to revert or restore.

Dokodemo Door - pwede ka pumunta kahit saan through this door.

Madami pang Dogu si Doraemon. Sana magkaron ng totoong mga ganito. Di ba? Pero ang lahat ng yan binibili pa ni Doraemon ha, kaya depende yun kung me pera sya o wala.

Sino naman si Nobita? Sya ang batang tinutulungan ni Doraemon. Marami namang nakaka-relate kay Nobita. Isa syang tipikal na grade-schooler. Grade 4 sya at tamad syang pumasok, laging late, zero lagi sa exam, laging binu-bully at laging napapagalitan ng nanay nya.

Eto naman ang ilan sa characters:

Shizuka - love interest ni Nobita. Mahilig maligo at madalas naaabutan ni Nobita na naliligo sya sa banyo pag ginagamit nya ang Dokodemo Door.

Gian and Suneo - mga nang-bu-bully kay Nobita

Hidetoshi - karibal ni Nobita kay Shizuka

Dorami - younger sister ni Doraemon. Dinadalaw din nya si Nobita using the time machine pag day-off ni Doraemon.

Tamako - Nanay ni Nobita

Nobisuke - Tatay ni Nobita

Sewashi - great great grandson ni Nobita. Sya ang nagpadala kay Doraemon pabalik sa past para mabantayan si Nobita.

Mi-chan - girlfriend ni Doraemon.

Sabi nga sa Time Magazine, isa syang companion o best friend na makakasama mo kahit saan at po-protektahan ka sa mga bully ng buhay mo. At pag napapanuod mo sya, iisipin mo na walang imposible.

There was one episode na hinahabol ng aso si Nobita but Doraemon threw himself against the dog para mailigtas si Nobita. May purpose naman sya unlike other pa-cute cartoon characters. He warms up everyone's heart with every episode. Although minsan sa kapalpakan nya, lalong lumalala yung situation, in the end, na-so-solve pa rin nya lahat ng problema.

They say that when you give out gifts, make sure that it is something that lasts. If you should give out food, there has to be something that's not edible that comes along with your gift so there will still be something left for that person to remember you by. I was just so happy to come across Suzy's yummy site. She is very creative that she makes me hungry everytime I view her page!

That's what I felt when I saw the very cute items that Suzy offers. I couldn't resist it! I was literally staring at the pictures. Good thing my friend Melissa posted a review about the items she got. Kudos to the seller for really being nice and creative. I have high respect for people who are very creative and original. The items I got were oh-so-detailed, I thought they were real. Hehe.. It was an easy and smooth transaction. Suzy makes sure you get the items promptly and was even the one who was more worried than I am when I told her I still have not received them. Aside from the goody items, attitude counts more. Good thing, she has both!

Each of my uber close friends got their own sorbet from me. This is the reason why it took a while before I wrote this blog since I don't want them to see my cute little gift for them. Aside from the obvious that it's cute and very detailed (see the little oreo?), this symbolizes our love for food.

Great that you're reading this. I think it's about time to shed off unwanted fats that's been lying dormant for years on your body. Not just because the holidays are over that we have to go on a diet. It's more of staying healthy and we got to love our body - keep it healthy. Not that I'm gonna go on a diet because some people say I don't need to, but I believe we all need to look good and we need to have a good and proven diet for that. One that is super effective for me is following the After-6 diet. When my anorexic-subconscious attacks, I see myself as someone who is fat even when they say I'm not. So what I do is go back to my After-6 diet and it's effective for me because I lose the fats in no time. I just stop when friends say I'm too thin. :teehee:

Thing is, we can all go on a diet, fine. But sticking to it religiously and fighting the urge to eat is another question. One thing I learned by reading healthbooks and facts about dieting is that the common misconception is that people believe that by not eating anything --- that will help you lose weight. That's true. That's about 30% true. But that's dieting on the UGLY side. When you do that, you don't feel good and you tend to get sick. Dieting on the PRETTY side (that's what I call it, hehe) is shedding excess fats but still enjoying the luxury of eating. Eating the RIGHT kind of food. It's true that I don't practice what I preach because I wasn't born to love veggies. I can eat veggies but I feel I can live without it. But don't mind me. That's part of my new year's resolution.

Who hasn't heard about the South Beach Diet? They say it's effective but expensive. But Pinoys are great in doing our versions of just about everything. I have three suggestions. Follow the 2-Week Pinoy South Beach Diet from Metro Mag. Try to be sexy with The Sexy Chef. Or. try my After-6 diet. =p

The South Beach Diet was created by cardiologist Dr. Arthur Agatston to help his patients with various heart conditions lead a healthier life through a shift in their diet patterns. BUT if you're just as lazy as I am, you can try The Sexy Chef Cafe. They have a 2-week South Beach Diet Premiere Package worth PhP850 per day. That includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, two snacks and dessert. For those who are unable to commit to an entire two week program, they have daily affordable meals for only P125.00 consisting of lean meat, a vegetable siding and brown rice. They have a branch in The Loop located at ABS-CBN, I think there's also one in Glorietta and Robinson's Galleria.What's good is that they deliver! I already tried some of their 125 meals and it's worth the money =). They have wraps, salads, sandwiches, etc. According to their site, Rachel and Barni Alejandro opened The Sexy Chef Café in July 2005. Their cafe caters to the first two phases of the diet.

Mine is simpler. Note that this one is effective for me and I wouldn't be able to guarantee that it's gonna be the same for the rest of you. What I do is I eat ANYTHING. Start 6am, you can munch on anything. After 6pm, STOP eating. That's it. If I feel hungry past 6PM, I just drink water. Once you get used to it, you won't get hungry as soon as 6pm strikes. =)
