I'm Not A Kalachuchi

Yes, I joined the bandwagon of people who now started to use reusable shopping bags instead of the usual plastic bags that we get from supermarkets. Anya Hindmarch started it all. She has been a designer for 12 years now and recently, her design showing the "I'm not a Plastic Bag" logo infront of the bag itself is more of an environmental statement. It's a cotton bag and at the back it shows "We are what we do". It was such a hit that i'ts now SOLD-OUT worldwide! It's for £5. The most expensive one I saw from eBay is now at $189.97 and still going up. But of course, there are now imitations sprouting from greenhills to online shops, where you can buy the same replica of the bag for a far lesser price. I was even planning to buy one from an online shop since i find it lovely, practical and eco-friendly. For only 1,500 pesos.

While paying for my groceries yesterday @ Rustan's, I saw this bag and the cashier told me it's for only 99.50 pesos.

A self-proclaimed environmentalist, I bought one for myself. =) One thing I discovered, it's far way better than plastics because I just had to carry this as a shoulder bag so no matter how heavy or how many "pancit cantons" I'll buy, I can carry it easily. Hehehe.. So I'll be using this one everytime I do my groceries @ Rustan's. It's what we call the modern bayong. :teehee:

I'm actually looking for a diary that says, "I'M NOT A KALACHUCHI". Can you find one for me??

Assurance is such a Lovely Word

You know the feeling when you're walking and you stumbled upon a lost dog? Normally, you would ask the people around if somebody owns the dog and most of the time, people will tell you that they don't have any idea who the owner is. So what you do is bring the dog with you, give it shelter, a much needed doggie bath, food, toys and love. You will then spend your days caring for a new found friend, looking forward to come home to a wagging creature. Then one day, someone comes to your house, claiming that he/she owns the dog. Do you know the feeling?

Same is true as when you are in a restaurant jam-packed with people on a typical lunch hour. You saw an empty table and what else should you do but storm up to the vacant place then somebody tells you, "sorry, that table is already taken." Do you know the feeling?

The feeling is a mixture of disappointment, regret and assurance.

Disappointment is understandable. You thought it was all yours. But you're wrong.

Regretting the fact that you were not the first one.

Assurance.

Why? because what happened to me was plain assurance. Assurance that it was ok that I was not the first one. An assurance that who came first didn't matter at all. Who assured me of what? That's for me to know and for you to find out. ;-)

I once received this text message:

"The early bird gets the worm. But has it ever occurred to you that the early worm gets eaten? Being the first may not necessarily be good because the first mouse gets trapped but the second one gets the cheese. We can either be the bird or the worm. The first mouse or the second one. You may not reach your goal and you may feel you're left behind but don't forget that it doesn't end there. If things are meant to be yours, it will be yours. Be thankful that you don't always come first."

Amen to that.
